Devi
Ajith is a name synonymous with so many mediums over period of approximately
two decades. She has been entertaining Malayalees as a VJ , a tele serial
artist, Mollywood actress, a compere , a Bharathnatyam and contemporary dance
performer. A versatile artist who is loved by all generation and has always
been in the memories of the audience . She is an entrepreneur running a
boutique “Scarlet” at Trivandrum
for past 18 years and “La Passion” at Chennai for almost two years pursuing her
passion in designing.
From
the age of eight she has been disciple of Nattuvam Paramasiva Menon. She was performing at various Temple
festivals in Trivandrum
when she took a break from media .
Early Career : Devi began her career with
Pattu Petty the evergreen program of 90s in Asianet , directed by Jayan
Cherukunnum whom she feels as her Pater Familas to introduce her to the media. The Malayalees still remember
her fondly for “Pattu Petty” . She was there for 11 years in Asianet anchoring
various programs . She anchored a Comedy show in Surya TV too.
She also
had a stint with the TV media as a serial artist working under luminous names
such as Director Shyama Prasad in “Mannal Nagram” ( his latest work being
“English” and “Artist”) highlighting life of Malayalees in Dubai and with Director Shaji Yem in the
serial Nakshtrangal.
She
was in Dubai
for over a year for Asianet in late 90s compeering infortainment program “WHERE
TO ?”
Tele Films She won four critic awards for the tele film “CUPID”
directed by Sohanlal Seenulal who too won many awards for same film. She was
the only actress in the film. She did the lead role in ”Sthree Parvam Navam”
under Adam Ayub for Amritha TV. She did a role in a telefilm with Rajesh Pillai’s “ Arikil Oral Kude”, director of the famous
movie “Traffic” remade in Tamil as “Chennai Oru Naal”.
Movies
: Her first released
commercial movie was Ivar in the year 2003 , the first Malayalam Movie to be
ever shot with a handycam under direction of well known TK Rajeev Kumar. She
had the opportunity to work under him prior to “Ivar “ in ”Seetha Kalyanam” with
belated release in 2009. “Uthara“ a movie which had brought out her artisitic
talent under Sanil Kallathil was the last project before she left the media.
Comeback :
After eight years she had a comeback
with a noticeable role in Director VK Prakash’s “Trivandrum Lodge” in 2012 , courtesy actor/scriptwriter/lyricist
Anoop Menon ,a friend ,who had written the script and acted in same . Her next
was State award winning Director Lal Jose’s
“ Immanuel” sharing screen
space with Megastar Mammooty . She has been accepted by the NewGen who has not
seen her previous works.
Her
recently released Movies are “Kaanchi”
directed by Krishna Kumar Produced by Haneef Muhammed under the banner Red
Rose. She also had a small presence in “Zachriyaude Garbanikal” directed by
Aneesh Anwar under banner of Friday Film House.
